In conjunction with the City Engineer and City Traffic Engineer, the Public Works Department maintains the City of Del Mar’s essential infrastructure; this includes, but is not limited to, public streets and associated drainage, pedestrian paths, bike lanes, signage, traffic signals, and landscaping. The City has established a Traffic & Roadway Standards Manual to ensure consistency in processes and provide information to the community. Sections of the manual can be found for your information:
If you’d like to learn what warrants the installation of traffic control devices – such as traffic signals, stop signs, crosswalks, and speed humps – please refer to Common Traffic Warrants and Guidelines (PDF). The consideration of the installation, modification or removal of a traffic control device may be initiated by citizen request in accordance with the following procedures: Procedures for Administering Traffic Warrants and Guidelines (PDF)
If you have further questions regarding the above topics, please contact the City’s Public Works Department per the “Contact Us” section at right.
