Tracy became active in Del Mar by serving as Chair of the Traffic, Parking Advisory Committee (TPAC) as well as the Vice Chair of the 6th Citizens Housing Element Ad-Hoc Task Force. She was elected to City Council in November 2020 and Mayor in 2023.
She moved to Del Mar in 2012 because she was taken by the beauty of our small unique village and thought it was the perfect place to call home. She ran for City Council because she believes our Community Plan is under threat. The Community Plan protects our beaches, lagoons, bluffs, Torrey Pines, open spaces, ocean views, and our quality of life. State-mandated high-density housing requirements could destroy our neighborhoods unless we respond sensibly without violating the principles of our Community Plan. Tracy believes listening to all residents is the best education for a council member and being focused on “how can we serve our residents better?”.
Tracy is dedicated to getting things done that have been promised such as undergrounding, protecting open space and resident views, help our business thrive, supports our Sea Level Rise Adaptation Plan without Managed Retreat, and build a strong relationship with the Fairgrounds to achieve mutual benefits, to name a few.
Professionally, Tracy is a registered nurse and a surgical program director. She is the immediate past president of an international society that allowed her to travel the world, present at conferences, and teach other colleagues.
Tracy, along with her husband Alan and their dachshund pup Sophie, enjoys the beach and lagoon trails in Del Mar. Tracy also loves tennis, yoga, and hiking in the high sierras where they have a second home in Mammoth Lakes.
