I want to re-roof my house. Is shake shingle roofing allowed?
Del Mar’s roof ordinance does not allow the use of any wood roofing materials for any replacement roof in the City. As a result, wood shake shingles are not allowed due to our climate and the rapid burn rate of this type of roofing material. The only exception to this rule is that a homeowner is allowed to replace up to 10% of his wood roofing on a one-time basis, if damage occurs.
