The Planning & Community Development Department has published drafts of safety and environmental justice documents to amend the Del Mar Community Plan.
The Draft Del Mar Safety Element is intended to establish policies to avoid hazards and plan ahead for natural disasters; the Draft Environmental Justice Element demonstrates Del Mar’s commitment to maintain a healthy, inclusive and accessible community.
The documents are available for public review and comment ahead of public meetings starting next month and City Council consideration this spring.
The Del Mar Community Plan serves as Del Mar’s State-approved General Plan.
Publication of the draft documents and holding public meetings are among the implementation actions needed to meet State requirements.
The timeline is as follows:
- Jan. 13: Planning Commission meeting on Safety Element;
- Jan. 26: Sustainability Advisory Committee meeting on Safety Element and Environmental Justice Element;
- Feb. 10: Planning Commission meeting on Environmental Justice Element; and
- March-April: City Council meetings on Safety Element & Environmental Justice Element.
