City prepares for heavy rains

With heavy rain in the forecast this weekend, the City is offering free sandbags to residents and preparing streets, storm drains and staffing to deal with up to two inches of rain expected through Sunday.

Residents can self-fill up to 10 sandbags between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on business days at the Public Works Department, 2240 Jimmy Durante Boulevard.

Meanwhile, with a flood watch issued by the National Weather Service for late Friday through Saturday night, Public Works crews have cleared debris from storm drains and have placed sandbags at strategic locations throughout the City.
