SANDAG provides update for bluffs project

SANDAG this week issued scheduling and construction updates related to the Del Mar Bluffs Stabilization 5 project as follows:

• During the summer months, work will shift toward grading and drainage improvements, with construction traffic driving on the beach to gain access to work areas;
• So far, the project has taken advantage five, weekend-long closures of the railway;
• During the so-called Absolute Work Windows, crews completed some of the most challenging work on the project, including installing steel pilings into the bluffs;
• More weekend railway closures for construction are scheduled for this fall;
• The project is expected to continue through mid 2027;
• Construction is about halfway done; and
• Significant progress has been made on stabilizing the track level.

Saturday: DMVA hosts cleanup, DJ, pancakes and water station celebration

Got a plan for Saturday, April 19? 

DMVA is hosting a community cleanup and pancake brunch starting at 10 a.m. April 19. Meet at the Beach Safety Center at 1700 Coast Boulevard.

The fun includes a DJ, coffee, pastries, giveaways and a ribbon-cutting to celebrate newly-installed water bottle filling stations.

Tuesday: Climate change symposium

The Coalition for Adapting to Climate Change in Del Mar is hosting its 2025 symposium, "Coastal Climate Threats To Our Community," from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the Del Mar Civic Center Town Hall, 1050 Camino Del Mar.

From winter storms to Santa Ana winds, Del Mar-focused presentations will cover actions residents can take to adapt to the changing climate.

The Friends of the Del Mar Library are hosting a concert of Baroque lute music with Eric Dickerson from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the library at 1309 Camino Del Mar.

CEA seeks Green Impact Champions

Clean Energy Alliance, a joint powers authority that sells electricity from renewable sources, is campaigning for customers to enroll to receive 100% renewable energy.

The Green Impact Champions program rewards customers who opt up to receive electricity from CEA's 100% Renewable Green Impact power supply. Find details online.
