Monday: E-bike ordinance on Council's agendaThe City Council on April 7 is set to consider introducing an ordinance that would establish new bicycle and e-bike regulations in Del Mar and give Sheriff's deputies the authority to divert first-time bicycle and e-bike offenders to a safety training program rather than issuing a citation.
As proposed, the regulations would be consistent with those of Encinitas and Solana Beach.
In Del Mar, the City Council has identified e-bike safety as an important concern.
The Sheriff's Department recommends consistent enforcement across the three cities and is supportive of the proposed ordinance.
