Sunny beach days keep lifeguards, public works busy

Busy days at beaches and parks mean busy days for the lifeguards and maintenance crews who keep the spaces safe and clean.


During the Fourth of July weekend, the Public Works Department removed nearly 2 1/2 tons of trash from Del Mar's beaches and parks.

SANDAG bluffs stabilization activities: July 25-31

In its weekly notice to the City of Del Mar, SANDAG covers planned construction activities for the Del Mar Bluffs 5 Stabilization Project. The project is scheduled to continue through mid 2027.

Rope rescue drills for "Super A" junior lifeguards

Members of Del Mar's "Super A Junior Lifeguard Program" completed rope rescue drills this week. 


The program prepares14- and 15-year-old junior guards to apply for jobs as seasonal lifeguards when they reach the hiring age of 16.

Aug. 7: Blood drive at Civic Center

The Rotary Club of Del Mar is hosting a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Del Mar Civic Center lower parking lot. 


Donors can receive a limited-edition, MARVEL Fantastic Four T-shirt. 


Walk-ins are welcome. Donors are advised to arrive hydrated and to bring a photo ID. Register online.
