Monday hearing on formation of Tewa Court/10th Street utility undergrounding district
A City Council hearing to consider the formation of a utility undergrounding district on Tewa Court and the upper portion of 10th Street is set for Monday, May 17. The remote meeting begins at 4:30 p.m.
The hearing will be the first in a series of actions to reinitiate the citywide Undergrounding Project. Council action to form two additional districts is expected in July.
The proposed Tewa Court/10th Street district would add to seven others identified in Del Mar's program to remove utility poles and replace overhead cables with underground lines.
In 2016, Del Mar voters identified utility undergrounding as a priority with the approval of Measure Q. The one-cent sales tax measure is generating the funds to finance the project.
While the City Council has authorized design work, construction has not been approved.
