1. Where can I pay for a parking or administrative citation? Are there payment plans available?

You can mail a check payable to the City of Del Mar along with the citation to

Or you can pay your ticket online (this option may avoid a delay.) If you prefer to pay in person, you may do so at the following location:

2. How do I protest a parking citation?

Parking protests can be made online at www.paymycite.com or by mail. A copy of your ticket with a short note stating the facts of your appeal can be sent to:

Staff review each appeal and a response is returned within 21 days. Be sure to include your return address and a copy of your citation.

3. How do I pay for a citation for expired tags or a “fix-it” ticket?

A ticket issued for expired tags can be reduced to $10 by presenting your current registration. This is called a “fix-it” ticket.” Payment for the ticket can be completed online at paymycite.com. It is also possible to pay for the ticket by mail, please mail: 1) a check for $10 (payable to the City of Del Mar); 2) a copy of your current registration; and, 3) a copy of the original citation to:

4. When is parking enforced?

Parking is enforced every day, including holidays, in Del Mar between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Parking meters are enforced on Coast Boulevard, the 17th Street lot, and Park/Pay/Display on Camino del Mar from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The meters at L’Auberge are enforced every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. including holidays and weekends. Other regulations and limits are clearly posted.

5. Why is parking enforced?

To ensure safety for our residents and over two million visitors each year, parking is enforced every day. To maximize the availability of our scarce parking through consistent turnover, the City uses a combination of timed parking, meters, and pay stations. These areas are clearly marked with signs that describe the hours and limits of use.

6. I got a traffic ticket. Can I have a copy of the speed survey?

The City Clerk’s Department will provide a copy of the City Ordinance adopting the findings of the speed study. A copy of the study can be provided for a nominal fee. The study can also be found on the Del Mar website under the June 4, 2012 City Council Agenda packet (item no. 12).

7. I tried the 800 number listed on the ticket but couldn’t get through. What should I do?

8. Should I send money if I am protesting this ticket?

No, do not send money if you are protesting the ticket. You will receive a reply by mail explaining your options, but you must protest within 21 days of the citation issue date. Once you have protested, the “clock” stops the date due for the citation.

9. I got a ticket in the Disabled Zone but I have a placard. What should I do?

A copy of your placard can be uploaded to paymycite.com. 

It can also be mailed. Please mail the following:

10. I lost my ticket? What should I do?

As a first step, status of payment can be found at paymycite.com. Enter “Del Mar” as the agency and then enter your license plate number. As a secondary measure you may call The Phoenix Group at 888-207-5716 or the city’s Parking Enforcement Division at 858-704-3659. Tell them your license plate number and that you received the ticket in Del Mar. They will then be able to look up the citation for you.  

11. I want to check on the status of payment of my ticket. What should I do?

If you mailed your ticket in the envelope provided, please call The Phoenix Group at (888) 207-5716 or the city’s Parking Enforcement Division at 858-704-3659. With either the citation number or your license plate number, they will be able to look up the citation and let you know the status of payment. Citations can also be viewed on the Paymycite website. Enter “Del Mar” as the agency and then enter your license plate number. If you have questions, you may contact the Finance Department at 858-755-9354.
