In this issue: Camino del Mar Paving

Starting Monday, Camino del Mar resurfacing

Please plan accordingly: Starting on Monday, downtown Del Mar is going to be noisy and dusty as road crews grind and repave Camino del Mar. The work is one of the final pieces of the Downtown Streetscape Project. Also beware of parking and lane closures.

From Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4, no parking will be permitted on Camino del Mar between 9th Street and the northern Plaza entrance. Traffic lanes and parking on side streets will be subject to intermittent closure.

During the week of Sept. 30, free parking will be available at the Del Mar Plaza and L’Auberge Del Mar. Parking is always free at the Del Mar Civic Center. Throughout the downtown district, enforcement of parking meters and timed parking will be suspended.

Streetscape in a nutshell

The Downtown Streetscape Project will beautify Camino del Mar and improve safety between 9th and Plaza streets. The $8.1 million project includes new sidewalks, crosswalks, bike lanes, street furniture, landscaping, paving and other improvements. Construction is scheduled to run through September. The Downtown Streetscape Project was first envisioned in 1996 as part of a citywide street and sidewalk improvement program.
