Council OKs Budget, Scheduling Revisions

The City Council voted 5-0 on Monday to add $425,000 to the Downtown Streetscape Project budget, which includes $300,000 to replace badly-corroded metal storm drains at 10th and 11th streets.

A particularly wet winter, which included 41 rain days, caused significant delays to the six-month Streetscape construction program.

To make up for lost time, Council members agreed that construction managers and contractors could add workers, allow some Saturday work and extend workday hours as-needed. Project planners told the Council that all sidewalk construction is expected to be finished before Del Mar horse racing begins in July.
