Law Enforcement Q&A Workshop

The Del Mar City Council is hosting a public workshop as part of the community conversation regarding the City of Del Mar’s law enforcement service options. The workshop will be held after the consent calendar at the special administrative meeting on July 10, 2017, at 4:00 PM in the City Council Chambers, 2010 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Suite 100.
The workshop will be largely Council driven, with Council-members asking questions of an expert panel on a range of law enforcement-related topics including, the level of service provided by the current Sheriff’s contract, the Del Mar Police Department Feasibility Report, and the Del Mel Police Department option. Residents will have the opportunity to make public comment following the Council question and answer session.

Additionally, the workshop will address the following:

  • Reasons Del Mar Police Department Feasibility report was undertaken 
  • The options the City has for law enforcement services
  • The current level of law enforcement services the City is receiving through the Ranger Program and the Parking Enforcement Division
  • The cost and liability implications of an independent police department
  • And other related topics
