Shores Park Master Plan
Project Status
Following is an update on the Shores Park Master Plan project with information on upcoming next steps.
There will an item on the City Council agenda for Tuesday, January 17th to discuss the idea of partnering with the Winston School to look more comprehensively at the overall Shores Park site in developing the Park Master Plan, including the potential for shared-use facilities, such as parking, an outdoor sport court, and a portion of the proposed activity building.
The School's lease with the City requires that they too complete a Master Plan. As both the City and the School do so, it is recognized that there is potentially great benefit to the community in looking at the site more comprehensively rather than as two separate projects.
All the public input gathered to date as part of the park master planning effort on what amenities the community would like in the park would remain applicable.
Here is a link to the full City Council staff report (see item 11) which provides background and explanation on how the partnership with Winston School would work and what the vision and goals are for this approach.
Looking Ahead
It is expected that the next round of public workshops and input opportunities will be in late spring 2017.
