City staff is preparing our beaches and parks to welcome more than 3 million visitors this summer.
In a May 15 presentation to the City Council, staff reported that calendars are filled with scheduled events at the beach, parks, Town Hall, Powerhouse Community Center and the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Staff from all departments review encroachment and operations permits for public and private events.
Preparations include training more lifeguards to keep beaches safe and support staff to clean restrooms and service waste receptacles.
Elsewhere, public Works refreshes signage, touches up curbs and sidewalks and readies the City's wastewater system for heightened demands.
Consistent with preparations from previous years, the City is set to employ additional Sheriff's deputies during the Fourth of July, Opening Day at the races and during summer concerts at Powerhouse Park.
