The North County Transit District on Friday issued a report to the City that outlines plans to install chain link fencing along the Del Mar bluffs rail corridor.
Prepared by the consulting firm WSP, the study examines railroad rights-of-way and bases its findings on data gathered between October 2019 and June 2020. The City was not consulted during the preparation of the report.
The report outlines plans for 6-foot-tall fencing with security gates on both sides of the railroad tracks between Coast Boulevard and the North Torrey Pines Bridge.
The City of Del Mar has not agreed to the proposed fencing. Del Mar will be working in collaboration with the California Coastal Commission, SANDAG, and other regional agencies to ensure NCTD respects the rights, property, environmental and safety considerations along the Del Mar bluffs.
Questions about the report can be directed to NCTD Chief of Safety Sean Loofbourrow, 760-967-2827 or firstname.lastname@example.org
