Dog playing on beach

Off-season rules for dogs are in place on Del Mar’s beaches. In all areas, dogs must wear a license on their collars. Leashes may be no longer than six feet. In off-leash areas, dogs must be under voice control. Owners must clean up after their pets.

North Beach (29th Street to Solana Beach border)

  • Off-leash dogs allowed

Main Beach (North boundary of Powerhouse Park to 29th Street)

  • Leashed dogs allowed
  • Off-leash dogs allowed between 25th and 29th streets from dawn to 8 a.m.

South Beach Area (Powerhouse Park to 6th Street)

  • Dogs must be leashed

In related news, as The Winston School prepares to bring students back to campus, dog owners are asked to respect City rules and County public health orders at the Shores Park ballfield, which is shared with the school.

  • Off-leash hours are from dawn to 8:30 a.m. daily and from 3:30 p.m. until dark on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
  • Owners must pick up after their pets and prevent them from digging up the field.
  • Visitors must practice social distancing and wear a face covering when social distancing is not possible.

Thank you for doing your part to keep Shores Park safe for people, pets and students at The Winston School.
