Marisol Specific Plan Initiative
In March 2020, Del Mar voters will be asked to consider Measure G, which is a local ballot initiative pertaining to the proposed Marisol Specific Plan Initiative. If you have questions about the proposed specific plan or initiative process you can send those to firstname.lastname@example.org. Questions and answers will be compiled in a FAQ document that will be periodically updated and available on this web page. Please be aware that the City will not be able to answer questions that require interpretation of the measure.
On August 5, 2019, a Notice of Intent to Circulate and proposed initiative text were submitted to the City of Del Mar by proponents of the Marisol Specific Plan Initiative. As is required by the California Elections Code, the City Attorney’s office prepared the following Ballot Title and Summary: Marisol Specific Plan Initiative- City Attorney Ballot Title and Summary .
The City Clerk’s Certification of Sufficiency for the Marisol Specific Plan was accepted by the City Council on October 7, 2019: City Clerk Certification of Sufficiency - Staff Report.
On November 4, 2019, the City Council received a presentation and copy of the of the Election Code 9212 Report for the “Marisol Specific Plan Initiative.” 9212 Report and Call for Election Marisol Specific Plan Initiative – Staff Report
Resolutions Calling for March 2020 Election
On December 2, 2019, the City Council adopted resolutions calling for a March 2020 special election and placing the Marisol Specific Plan Initiative on the ballot for voter consideration. Additionally, they adopted resolutions allowing for the submittal of ballot arguments and rebuttal arguments and calling for the preparation of an Impartial Analysis by the City Attorney.
Resolution 2019-60 Calling for a Special Election; Resolution 2019-61 Requesting to Consolidate the Election with the County of San Diego; Resolution 2019-62 Placing Marisol Initiative on the March 2020 Ballot; Resolution 2019-63 Authorizing Ballot Arguments and City Attorney Impartial; and Resolution 2019-64 Authorizing Rebuttal Arguments Analysis.

Ballot Measure Forum
On Thursday, January 23, 2019, in the Town Hall the League of Women Voters of North County San Diego will moderate a forum to discuss the Marisol Specific Plan Initiative. Representatives from each side of the issue will present their perspectives and answer questions from members of the audience.
