It takes energy to transport water to our homes and energy to take wastewater away; operating potable water and wastewater systems accounts for 2.5% of total greenhouse gas emissions in the City of Del Mar. To reduce emissions from these sources, the Climate Action Plan recommends conserving potable water and capturing emissions from wastewater treatment.
