Potable water and wastewater
Go green by conserving water. It takes energy to transport water to our homes and energy to take wastewater away; operating potable water and wastewater systems accounts for 2.5% of total greenhouse gas emissions in the City of Del Mar. To reduce emissions from these sources, the Climate Action Plan recommends conserving potable water and capturing emissions from wastewater treatment.
As California faces a severe drought, water managers are promoting conservation and the City of Del Mar has updates its drought ordinance.
Conservation resources
As the region's wholesaler, the San Diego County Water Authority imports water to sell to its 24 member agencies, including the City of Del Mar. The Water Authority provides incentives, rebates and tips for reducing water use at home and places of business.
