Program Description
The San Diego Sheriff’s Department oversees Neighborhood Watch programs throughout the county and is happy to assist Del Mar residents with starting programs in their local neighborhoods. If you are interested in preventing crime on your street and are willing to work with your neighbors and law enforcement, contact Crime Prevention Specialists with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department at 760-966-3587 or 760-966-3588 to learn how to start a Neighborhood Watch program or to join one that is already active.
Participation
Neighborhood Watch participants are not vigilantes; they are extra eyes and ears for reporting crime and helping neighbors. Neighborhood Watch programs build pride and serve as a springboard for efforts that address community needs. A neighborhood watch is one of the most effective and least costly ways to prevent crime and forge bonds among area residents. It helps reduce neighborhood crimes and creates a partnership between law enforcement and the community. Neighbors working together in cooperation with law enforcement make the best crime fighting team around to keep Del Mar safe and crime free!
