How do I pay for a citation for expired tags or a “fix-it” ticket?
A ticket issued for expired tags can be reduced to $10 by presenting your current registration.  This is called a “fix-it” ticket.”  In order to pay for the ticket by mail, please mail: 1) a check for $10 (payable to the City of Del Mar); 2) a copy of your current registration; and, 3) a copy of the original citation to:  Finance Department, 1050 Camino del Mar, Del Mar, CA  92014 or to IR,  P.O. Box 2329, Del Mar, CA  92014.

If you prefer to pay in person, you can do so at the locations listed in the question above with the documents listed above.

When is parking enforced?
Parking is enforced every day, including holidays, in Del Mar between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.  Parking meters are enforced on Coast Blvd., the 17th St. lot, and Park/Pay/Display on Camino del Mar from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., except on Christmas and New Year’s Day.  Meters at L’Auberge are enforced on holidays and weekends from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Other regulations and limits are clearly posted.

Why is parking enforced?
Del Mar’s sandy wide beaches and unique downtown environment create special parking challenges.  As a result of the ever increasing demand for parking, the City has chosen to designate certain areas of town as timed parking every day of the year.  These areas are clearly marked with signs which describe the hours that the parking regulations are applicable.  This helps increase turnover, resulting in more available parking spaces.

Traffic Enforcement

I got a traffic ticket.  Can I have a copy of the speed survey?
The City Clerk’s Department will provide a copy of the City Ordinance adopting the findings of the speed study.  A copy of the study can be provided for a nominal fee.  The study can also be found on the Del Mar website under the
February 7, 2005 City Council Agenda packet (item no. 8).

I tried the 800 number listed on the ticket but couldn’t get through.  What should I do?
Please call City’s Parking Enforcement Division at (858) 755-1556.

Should I send money if I am protesting this ticket?
