The draft environmental document for the expansion of I-5 was released July 9 and is available for comment. A copy of the EIR is available at: http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist11/Env_docs/I-5NCCDraft.html.  It is 1,000 pages long.  If you would like a CD of this document, please contact the Caltrans Public Information Office at (619) 688-6670. 

Several public meetings are scheduled.  Please see the attached flyer for specifics on the meetings.  Each meeting runs from 5 - 8 p.m. There will be engineers, noise and traffic specialists and property agents at each meeting to answer questions. About 40 display boards will explain the planned expansion.

The length of time to comment has been doubled to 90 days because of the size of the project. Citizens will have until Oct. 7 to comment on the environmental impact statement.
