The Del Mar Fire Department hosted a Community Education Workshop for residents to discuss changes to the City’s Weed and Nuisance Abatement Program on September 15, 2010.
Fire personnel provided property owners with information regarding overgrown vegetation throughout the City and the Fire Department’s plan to reduce fire hazards. A new inspection program for identifying fire hazards on property and how owners will be notified of these hazards was also addressed. The proposed weed abatement inspection program would be administered by a fire safety contractor, with the Fire Marshal providing program oversight.
