You should always be cautious when answering your door to strangers.  Never feel obligated to open the door unless you feel comfortable in so doing.  All legitimate solicitors, selling door-to-door in Del Mar, are required by City regulations to possess, and display upon request, a photo identification card, and a current letter issued and signed by the City of Del Mar approving them as a solicitor within the City.  If a solicitor does not have an approved Del Mar Solicitor’s Letter and picture ID, or refuses to show either to you, then please contact the City’s Code Enforcement Officer at 858-704-3651, or email code@delmar.ca.us.

If you ever feel threatened by a surprise visitor at your door, do not hesitate to call 911 for law enforcement.

Solicitors may apply for a Solicitors Letter through the City’s Finance Department. The Finance Department is located in the lower level of City Hall at 1050 Camino del Mar.
