Why Volunteer...

The City of Del Mar is one of the most scenic, beautiful, and protected communities along the coast of California.  The Del Mar Community Plan outlines the village character that residents envisioned when they helped craft the Plan to protect and maintain that character.  Our residents are highly-educated and involved, and bring a high degree of expertise to the committees and organizations they join.  Be a part of that energy, get to know your neighbors and community, and help promote and protect the beautiful City of Del Mar.

How to Volunteer ...

Vacancies are advertised on the City's website as well as in the local newspaper.   Interested residents should obtain the City Council resolutions describing the committees they are interested in, fill out a  Citizen Interest Form and file it with the City Clerk.  For more information, please view the City Advisory Committee section of the City website or contact the City Clerk Department at (858) 755-9313 or cityclerk@delmar.ca.us

Other Volunteering Opportunities ...

The City is blessed with talented and active citizens.  In addition to these volunteer opportunities, there are a number of opportunities to become involved with the City's numerous non-profit organizations.  Some of the local non-profit organizations are:

Del Mar Community Connections
Del Mar Foundation
Del Mar Village Association
The Del Mar Art Center
Friends of the San Dieguito River Valley
Del Mar Rose Society
Del Mar Television Foundation
Friends of the Del Mar Library
Del Mar Historical Society
Del Mar Garden Club
Friends of the Powerhouse

Additional opportunities abound to volunteer on Council Advisory Committees. Through the selection and appointment of numerous volunteers to advisory committees, the Council fosters and promotes the active involvement of Del Mar residents in important City programs and activities.  A description of the City’s Standing Advisory Committees follows.  Ad hoc committees are also created to advise on special issues.
