North Commercial (NC) Zone Professional Commercial (PC) Zone
Through Feb. 18, the public can submit written comments on a City proposal to allow housing in two commercial zones.
The City is soliciting comments as part of public review of a Draft Program Environmental Impact Report. The report analyzes a City proposal to introduce residential development of up to 20 dwelling units per acre as an allowed use in two commercial zones: the North Commercial Zone on Jimmy Durante Boulevard and San Dieguito Drive and the Professional Commercial Zone on Camino del Mar at 8th and 9th streets.
The report also examines the potential impacts of adding housing to the City’s Public Facilities Zone. It does not include examinations of the Shores Park or Winston School properties.
Del Mar has brought forward the proposed zoning amendments in response to State mandates that cities and counties increase their housing inventories.
In keeping with guidelines of the California Environmental Quality Act, written comments should focus on the sufficiency of the analysis, its identification of possible impacts and how they can be avoided or mitigated.
