The City Council is seeking insight from Del Mar residents about what qualities and attributes they value most as the Council moves forward in the process to select a new City Manager.
A community survey published this week poses four questions:
- What skills and experience are most critical for a new City Manager to succeed in Del Mar?
- What management and leadership attributes should he or she have?
- How would you like the City Manager to interact with the community?
- What else should the City Council consider during the recruitment?
Residents are encouraged to respond to the survey, which closes at 5 p.m. Oct. 20.
In June, City Manager Scott Huth announced his plans to retire in February after eight years as the city’s top executive.
Last month, the City retained the search firm Bob Murray & Associates to assist with the recruitment of Huth’s replacement.
A schedule presented to the City Council shows that a finalist is expected to be named in December or January. The schedule and a list of key attributes for Del Mar’s City Manager are included in a Sept. 9 City Manager Recruitment Update (PDF).
