The Del Mar Farmers Market is open from 1 to 4 p.m. every Saturday on the ocean view plaza of the Civic Center, 1050 Camino Del Mar.
Farmers from throughout the region and beyond offer organic and pesticide-free seasonal fruits and vegetables, potted herbs, orchids, international cuisine, eggs, seafood, humus, bread and baked goods, cheese, granola, almond butter, kettle corn, honey, jam, fruit juice, kombucha and turmeric-infused drinks. Displayed among the avocados and oranges are cherimoya, starfruit and other specialty crops seldom seen on the shelves of the super-market.
The Del Mar Farmers Market was established in 1986 and is the second-oldest farmers market in the region. Its mission is to “support certified farmers who sell their fruits and vegetables directly to the consumer helping to sustain local farming and enrich the community.”
Shopping the Del Mar Farmers Market directly benefits the community. The nonprofit farmers market has donated a portion of its profits to the Del Mar Library, Del Mar Community Connections, the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy and a student scholarship program.
Free parking is available in the Del Mar Civic Center’s garage, with entrances on 10th and 11th streets.
