Del Mar General Municipal Election 2018

The City's General Municipal Election will be held on November 6, 2018, to fill two Council seats (Term: December 2018 - November 2022).

2018 City Council Candidates

The candidate filing period for the November 2018 General Election closed on August 15, 2018.  The certified City Council candidates for the 2018 General Election are:

  • Brian Fletcher
  • Terry Gaasterland
  • Dan Quirk
  • Dwight Worden

Each candidate submitted a Candidate Statement of Qualification, which provides more detailed information about the candidate and what they seek to do should they be elected.

Candidate Forum

On Thursday, September 13 at 6:00p.m. the League of Women Voters hosted a Candidate Forum at the Del Mar Civic Center in the Town Hall.  The event was sponsored by the Del Mar Foundation. Click here to watch the Candidate Forum.

On June 4, 2018, the City Council adopted the resolutions calling the November 6, 2018, General Municipal Election and consolidating the election with the County of San Diego Registrar of Voters (ROV).

September 27, 2018
     1st pre-election filing

Each candidate listed on the ballot must file FPPC Form 460 or Form 470
October 8, 2018 First Day for Mailing Permanent Vote by Mail Voter Ballots
October 22, 2018 Last Day to Register to Vote
     After this date, individuals wishing to vote may register and provisionally vote at the           Registrar of Voters Office.

October 25, 2018
   2nd pre-election filing

All committees must file FPPC Form 460
October 31, 2018 – November 6, 2018 Vote by Mail – IN PERSON ONLY
     During this period vote by mail ballots are available at the Registrar of Voters
