Traffic & Roadway Standards
In conjunction with the City Engineer and City Traffic Engineer, the Public Works Department maintains the City of Del Mar’s essential infrastructure; this includes, but is not limited to, public streets and associated drainage, pedestrian paths, bike lanes, signage, traffic signals, and landscaping. The City has established a Traffic & Roadway Standards Manual to ensure consistency in processes and provide information to the community. Sections of the manual can be found below for your information:
- If you’d like to apply for, or learn more about, marking the curb(s) adjacent to your home or business, please refer to General Curb Marking Procedures & Application.
- If you’d like to apply for, or learn more about, marking the “tips” of your driveway apron, please refer to Red Tipping Procedures & Application.
- If you’d like to learn what warrants the installation of traffic control devices – such as traffic signals, stop signs, crosswalks, and speed humps – please refer to Common Traffic Warrants & Guidelines. The consideration of the installation, modification or removal of a traffic control device may be initiated by citizen request in accordance with the following procedures: Procedures for Administering Traffic Warrants & Guidelines
